Web Log = Blog

This is how the word blog came into existence.

How to make your site to be found in Google SERP

You have created a beautiful website but have not yet displayed it on Google Search Engine Result Page (SERP). This may make you feel like a wall when you dance and want to know how to get a big search engine to notice you. Google processes billions of websites every day. How did it get more attention? Let's take a look at how Google indexes, analyzes, and ranks websites.

1. Indexing your website

Search engines have a large index on all pages on all websites they know. It can only be displayed in the SERP if your website is in this database.

Search engines must be aware of the existence of your site before it appears in search results. In technical terms, we want search engines to add your site to the index of their known sites. This is the first thing to do: only when the search engine first sees your site, any work you do to optimize your site will do something.

If your site is a new site, the search engine crawler may eventually find it in a matter of days or weeks. However, if you want to speed things up, the best way to quickly index is to sign up for a free Google Search Console account and use its URL checking tool. This process takes only a little while, but you can be sure that the crawler will visit your site as soon as possible. It’s much better than sitting around waiting for magical things.

2. Analyzing your website

Once the crawler knows about your site and what’s on it, it’s time to analyze what it’s found. The analysis ends with a ranking: a list of pages on the Internet that best match a search phrase. Google pays attention to a lot of things when analyzing websites. Search engines want to know what your site is and, more importantly, when it should display your site to searchers. Search engines will try to find the most appropriate search phrase for your site.

Over the years, Google's algorithms have become more sophisticated, and the process is somewhat subtle. For example, if your website is about coffee, what should the website appear when people are looking for the best place to drink coffee in your city? Or when people are looking for a good coffee supplier for their cafe, should it appear on the website? Search engine algorithms can view your content, "read" your text and answer the question.

3. Ranking your website

Once the search engine has completed the analysis, it wants to determine if your site is more suitable for those search phrases than other competing sites. To this end, it uses about 150 different ranking factors. Some of them are more important than others.

Unfortunately, there is no easy list of all the different ranking factors. Google and other search engines don't tell us exactly what they're looking for because they don't want us to start processing search results. Fortunately, they do provide general guidelines. People who work in SEO also often test to understand how search engines handle content on the site.

With this information, you can optimize your site and rank higher for certain search phrases. While the entire industry is committed to all the nuances of search engine optimization, you can start with the following simple steps. First step is to do some keyword research to understand the search phrases you want to target. Second step is open the SEO settings on your website and fill in any blank fields such as "Home Title" and "Web Title". Use these fields to describe your site and use some of the keywords you want to target. Third step is to add titles to your website to provide your text structure and then fill in the alternate text fields on the image. Final step is to improve the content of your website. The SEO setting will only make you so far. The most important factor in search engine rankings is the high quality, relevant text on your website.
