Setting Up 1.1.1.1 by Cloudflare

On April Fools’ Day, Cloudflare was launching its own consumer DNS service, it is not a joke, that promises to speed up you Internet connection and keep it private. The service is using https://1.1.1.1 which is an actual DNS resolver that anyone can use.

“The Internet’s fastest, privacy-first consumer DNS service.”, Cloudflare claims it. While Google DNS and openDNS both exist, Cloudflare very concern on the privacy aspect of its own DNS service with a promise to wipe all logs of DNS queries within 24 hours.

As compared to other DNS service provider, Cloudflare DNS is sitting at a global response time of 14ms, whereas OpenDNS is having 20ms and 34ms for Google DNS, there it is the fastest DNS resolver for consumers at the moment.

  • 1.0.0.1
  • 2606:4700:4700::1111
  • 2606:4700:4700::1001
